Welcome, Bienvenue, Croeso!
You are warmly invited to celebrate the marriage of Polly & Rhys on Saturday 5 October 2024 in Paris.
The Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony will take place at
Chapelle Expiatoire
29 Rue Pasquiet, 75008 Paris.
Please arrive at Chapelle Expiatoire for 5.30pm,
to be inside the chapel by no later than 5.40pm.
The ceremony will begin at 5:45pm.
Champagne & Dinner
The ceremony will be followed by champagne and photographs at the Chapelle until around 7.00pm. We will then transport you to a further secret location that we hope will be an enjoyable surprise for you.
Although there will be canapes at the second location followed by a beautiful dinner, we will not be sitting down to dinner until approximately 9.30pm. We would therefore encourage everyone to have a decent brunch/lunch if they fear hunger may set in before then.
Carriages at 2.00am.
Black tie & long evening dresses.
For women, we would encourage autumnal colours such as greens, oranges, chocolates and burgundies should you wish. The bridesmaids will be wearing black.
This gallery provides some general ideas that hopefully help here.
October in Paris is usually warmer than October in the UK, but as we will be outside for the drinks at the Chapelle and partly outside for the drinks at the second location, women may wish to bring a cover for their shoulders, e.g. a shawl or pashmina, in the event they feel cold.
There will be lots of time to take photographs during the evening, but we would politely beg that phones and cameras are put away and no photographs are taken by guests during the ceremony itself.
To get to Paris, we recommend the Eurostar for those able to reach it. For those travelling in numbers, using the ‘Group booking’ function on the Eurostar website usually offers substantial savings.
For those travelling from further away, Paris is well served by Paris-Orly and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airports.
For travel within Paris, we find the Uber app is cheaper and more reliable in Paris than it is in the UK. Local numbered taxis showing green lights are also available for hire, and the majority accept cards.
The Metro also offers a quick and safe way of travelling across the city, just beware pickpockets. Paris is also a very easily and safely walkable city at any time of day.
We recommend using Booking.com or AirBnb to organise accommodation. Often AirBnb will be able to offer a reasonably sized apartment for roughly the same price as a hotel room, albeit that Booking.com now also offers private apartments as well as hotels. Finding hotels on Booking.com but then actually booking them directly via the hotel’s own website can often result in decent savings
As to choosing the location of your accommodation, you will not go wrong with anywhere in central Paris given the ease of travel within the city. The Chappelle is in the 10th Arrondissement and the last location is close to the Musee D’Orsay in the 7th Arrondissement, if that assists.
We do not expect or require gifts, particularly as you will be travelling to Paris.
Should you nevertheless wish to gift us anything, we have prepared a list.
As we look to the future, what we would love is a way to make whatever wedding gifts we receive a means to share more great times with you.
As you walk around Paris, you will notice the distinctive green metal ‘Luxemburg’ chairs laid out in the parks and green spaces. These are also for sale as outdoor dining sets, and we have found a UK provider who supplies them. We would therefore love a set of these. However, we recognise that some guests may wish to band together to buy e.g. a single chair, given the cost.
